about

Electronica outfit, Monterrey, return with a hazy, new single titled “Terrarium” set to a dreamy, dystopian backdrop in a not so different reality. Traces of psyche and chillwave music blend to make Terrarium an interesting mesh of 90’s trip hop and electro pop.

Roger del Pino, the group’s vocalist, tells a story of a man living within a self-made biosphere used to survive existential threats facing his planet. Terrarium is a cautionary omen about apathy and what happens when we ignore the warning signs.

Terrarium also welcomed the production touch of Miami-based producer, Firstworld, who began working with the band in early 2020. The song is Monterrey’s first track of the year and is expected to release next month amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

TERRARIUM
Lyrics by Monterrey

You always pay for what you get
Try not to seek what doesn’t last
There’s no more time left
Little regret
Now
We've come undone
What's left to say?

Take all that you
Find at your feet
Now
Come have a seat
And dream a dream with me

Nobody hears a word I say,
'cause I’m in here alone
Nobody here to save the world

The sun rises up on a new day
Here comes the shore to wash away
Now
There’s not much else left
Little regret
When
Whe world falls apart
Who’s left to blame

Nobody hears a word I say
'cause I’m in here alone
Nobody here to save the world
Nobody hears a word I say
'cause I’m in here alone
Nobody here to save the world
